The device is based of an ESP32-S3 Module with WaveShare 2.8” Capacitive Touch LCD. It includes sound system and customised theme songs as well as actions sound effects.
Identifying Key Issues
The main challenge was designing a user-friendly UI and UX that fit within the constraints of a 320x240 screen, while ensuring all game elements remained clear and intuitive. Additionally, LVGL animations had to be carefully optimized to conserve ESP resources and maintain smooth performance.
Defining Our Vision
The goal was to recreate the feel of real casino games on a compact handheld device, maintaining a high-quality user experience despite hardware limitations. This meant replicating core gameplay mechanics, audio-visual feedback, and responsiveness typically found in full-sized machines.
Strategies Used
The device was built using SquareLine Studio for UI design and LVGL for rendering and animations. Hardware included an ESP32-S3 paired with a Waveshare 320x240 LCD and an MP3 player module for audio feedback. This stack allowed for a responsive interface with synced visuals and sound.
Outcome Delivered
The result was a fun and engaging handheld device featuring three fully functional casino-style games. The interface was smooth, the experience immersive, and the client was fully satisfied with both the performance and final product.
